For those who don't read [livejournal.com profile] uk_bikers, a link:

Ignore the Russian text (unless you read Russian, in which case translate it for us, ta!), and just scroll down to the image with all the timestamped links under it. Open all the links and flick through the pictures. Wince as necessary.

From the comments and things that were translated, 18 injuries but no deaths. As soon as the first one went down someone was calling the emergency services and people coming over the hill on the other side tried to stop the bikers (you can see that I think). I think it said something like 4 emergency calls were made as more people hit the crashpoint.

Ah did you mean no fatalities? Yeah considering how bad it looks it could have been a lot lot worse on the casualty side of things.

Yeah, I dunno why but I always mean casualties to mean dead as opposed to walking wounded. :)

We have bike meets of that sort of scale near me, I can't recall any serious crashes. When you have a few hundred bikes, some parked in the middle of the road (strange road markings, theres a bit big enough to park a bike on..) its amazing.

Myself and [livejournal.com profile] dennyd were tlaking about this on msn. Rides liek that in this country do tend to be closer but slower and on different roads.

True. Maybe our bikers are more careful or something too :)

My friend tried to drag me to a rally..but the tales of what they do to rally virgins made me hide.

I think it's different roads and styles of riding. It seem they ride closer together over here on big rides like that but slower and possibly not in such big groups.
