Weekended.

A weekend full of happy stuff, always good.

Friday night was spent with [livejournal.com profile] elise, something that neither of us seem to have time to do as often as we'd like. As a bonus to the fine company (and the tour of the Butterfly Nursery for Eccentric Waifs and Strays (don't ask), the rather swish flat she now shares with two friends), I also got fed something considerably healthier than the rest of my week's meals put together*, which was probably a good job considering Saturday's plans...

Saturday there was some shopping in Cambridge, and then a bit of a sideways excursion to Flitwick to place some car stereo equipment in the eager hands of [livejournal.com profile] djlongfella, where I spent some time just chatting and stuff - another person I get around to seeing far less often than I should.

Heading out from Chez Fella, I set out for the long haul to Cheltenham for [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000's birthday party, hosted at [livejournal.com profile] azekeil's extremely party-friendly house :) On the way I bounced through Gloucester to pick up [livejournal.com profile] evute, who I thought could benefit from introduction to this hotbed of hooligans that live quite close to her ;)

For some reason my navigation system took me from Flitwick to Gloucester in a huge arc that practically went via Birmingham (M1->M6->M5). Still, I try not to argue with it as it's quite clearly got more clue than I have about which roads go where - and it did get me there a lot faster than I was expecting.

Slightly bizarrely, just as [livejournal.com profile] evute (looking as cool as ever (okay, I've only seen her twice, but she looked very cool both times)) was getting into my car, we got accosted by some random guy who wanted to tell us that he thought goths didn't exist any more. He seemed quite excited to have found real live goths in the wild, or something. It was mostly sort of endearing, but with more than a slight hint of weird ;)

I felt cheerful as soon as I got into [livejournal.com profile] azekeil's place, which was really nice. I guess my brain has started to realise that Good Stuff™ happens there :) I also seemed to know quite a lot of the people there, from previous parties or elsewhere, so it was quite an 'at home' feeling in some ways.

There was an inordinate amount of both poi and pretty people at the party. So that was all nice. Special mention must go to [livejournal.com profile] snarfc0re (who I thought was a guy until about six weeks ago, d'oh) and her boyfriend [livejournal.com profile] meltie, who were both drool-inducingly attractive - particularly considered in combination :) He also did a fine job of queuing up a huge range of music through the night on the Winamp machine, keeping the party mood in full effect until gone 3am - top job!

Also looking extremely good was [livejournal.com profile] sepheri, who was immortalised in digital film for her part in wrapping (and more particularly, unwrapping) [livejournal.com profile] ev1ldonut in clingfilm. Other highlights of the evening included an unexpected [livejournal.com profile] snowyfeline, an entirely expected but always delectable [livejournal.com profile] exitwound, the highly photogenic [livejournal.com profile] cryx (who is every bit as pretty in real life), and a supporting cast of thousands. Well, there seemed to be a lot of people there anyway.

At one point during the night I managed to hit myself full force square in the top of the head with a lit fire-poi, but the damage is remarkably minimal. I have some short singed hair here and there, but it didn't take my entire head off. Really must remember to take a baseball cap with me when I'm going to be spinning :-\ Also at some point during the night I managed to teach [livejournal.com profile] stuartl how to do the weave with poi, so that was great... it's always nice to see someone make the break-through from half-weave to doing it properly, it reminds me how pleased I was with myself when I figured it out (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] preachermuaddib in my case).

Today there was a HUGE fried food fest at a cafe in Cheltenham (between the whole lot of us we probably doubled their day's takings), and then people slowly drifted off to their various residences. Hopefully [livejournal.com profile] zeke_hubris and [livejournal.com profile] exitwound have managed to find their way back to Croydon by now, I didn't envy them the public transport trip but unfortunately I only have the one seat in my car :-\

On the way home I was so tired that I pulled into Reading services on the M4 and spent half an hour lazing around on a grass verge until I felt together enough to drive again. I think I might be a bit of a lightweight :)

So... all in all, a pretty damn good weekend. w00t.

Spotted on my friends page: Yay for sweeties! (yoinked from [livejournal.com profile] deliberateblank)

Thank you so much for coming, and for introducing Claire, and for swinging fire with such amazing fluidity, and for the lovely kitty, and for the book which I'm really looking forward to reading, and for having those cheekbones and that grin. It was so great to see you. *Hugs you happily*

*laughs at your enthusiasm* Thankyee :) Always a pleasure to visit the party people in their native habitat... although you must let me take some of you out clubbing in London one of these days :-D

The kitty was such a good find, because I'd just given up on finding you a cool present (and therefore on getting you anything - I don't like giving 'filler' presents) and I literally turned around on the heels of thinking 'ah bollocks, I'm not going to find anything', and there it was... *yoink!*

Hmmm, I went to about here (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?G2M?X=389300&Y=207935&A=Y&Z=5), which is where an ex-colleague of mine, from Bunker days is now living. What's more scary is that I recognise half the names on this post from [livejournal.com profile] rillaith's journal. On the train on the way to Stroud, the guy who got on at Reading (I think) had a Glade (http://www.gladefestival.com/) wristband on, so we got chatting. It all serves to make me realise how small the world actually is!

As ever, really good to see you, and much appreciated, that we did not touch on " the obvious subject " of conversation... weird really as you of all people are one of the few I would discuss such things with, but in this instance/ timming, it was better for me not to ....Thank You...

It appears obvious, that we should both gang up on florence90 and get our cars cleaned as tehy are both way too dirty for our stature...:)

I'm going to treat mine to a full valet when it finally stops being a Pain In The Fucking Arse at me. So hopefully that'll be on Friday. *crosses fingers*

Happy to chat if/when you want to, of course, but there's no point unless you feel like it'll be helpful.

I'm going to Norfolk this weekend, so let me know if you need that shuttle cable and I can probably drop it by your place on my way home on Sunday... I think it'll fit in your mailbox if you're not there.

You're doing it on purpose now!

If you want someone to meet up and poi with, it's always worth sending me a text... if I'm not rushing around trying to get something done then an excuse to go out and play in the park with company is always nice.

But, but... you're my frieeeeeend. That means you can read the 'Contact Details' post in my memories, and then you can stalk me :)

Oddballs in Camden (on the corner on the way into Stables market) is the place to buy shiny poi goodness, in case you didn't already know.

I keep missing the fire-poi! One of these days I'll make it through to that bit... ;) When I was in Paris in June there was a chappy from the local circus there who twirled lit batons and chains and stuff. It was very impressive and my camera ran out of batteries before I could get a shot. D'oh! *bouncebouncebounce*
