The High Cost of Driving

Just took out a new insurance policy to replace the one I accidentally allowed to lapse. The renewal notice that I didn't respond to in September wanted £336. The policy I just bought cost me £548. That's inflation for you. Price raises in both September and November, plus loss of my 'existing policy' discount :(
On the bright side this does mean that I can legally drive the car again as of about ten minutes ago, and that means I get to see
duranorak tonight and tomorrow,
firewoman tomorrow evening, and
gothslut on Sunday. Without friends, life would be empty indeed - I'm very much looking forward to seeing each of you *hugs*
Update: it occurs to me that I have full no-claims discount on that policy - that means that it's £500+ after they've applied a 67% discount! If I lose my no-claims discount (possible, I have an outstanding claim still in contention) my insurance could rise to somewhere in the region of £1700 ... I think it's safe to say that would take me off the road, regardless of the points I'm going to collect for this insurance fuck-up.
This just gets better and better...
