The site looks and sounds a bit amateurish, but read the guy's bio, and read the letter linked at the bottom of the front page, then read about what happened to him after he sent it.

Update: I've mirrored the site here: http://phoenixrising.ws/mirror/www.geeksunite.net/

Looks like the US just got out of bed and overloaded the site. I should have a mirror up shortly...

Wow! IE (all I have at work) doesn't like that page at all (original or mirror) i'm getting a runtime error at line 35 that locks the whle thing up, I can't even close the window without resorting to task manager.

I think I would have sought legal advice before sending such a letter.

There was a definite lack of arse-covering there, very naive of him. Nonetheless, the situation seems quite outrageous.

It does, but anyone who's worked for a manager, especially someone who's been in the industry this long, should have known to expect something like this. Really.

However, if I ever go contracting, I will look into some serious self-protection and disclaimers etc. as part of the standard contract for hiring me.

He was wrong.

The guy was totaly in the wrong, all the way. He should have known better. Guess that is what you get when you use PERL as a programming language...

The company was only trying to protect what they have and there is now law stopping that. But I think what the police did at his house was kinda messed up.. went a little overboard but yet again cops dont really know much about computers.

He was in the wrong because he refused to engage in illegal and immoral activities? Interesting view of right and wrong you have there.
