Well that was surreal.

Conversation with a mutual acquaintance last night reveals that my ex-girlfriend didn't quite tell me the truth about everything.

Starting with her name and age*, and working on from there.

I feel slightly disconnected from reality just now, but perhaps that's to be expected. The last nine months feel in some ways like something that happened to someone else, or maybe something I read about. Which then makes it feel slightly peculiar that I care about it all so much.

"We are now cruising at a level of two to the power of twenty-five thousand to one against and falling, and we will be restoring normality just as soon as we are sure what is normal anyway. Thank you."

* In response to a few cautiously phrased enquiries; yes, she was above the age of consent when I met her. Just.

Ouch .. that's a bit of a shocker.

I once had a similar experience with a girl and her age, but at least her name was right!

To be fair, I did know that she was using two names... it's just that she told me that the made-up one was the real one, which she was going back to using now after a period of using the fake (real) one.

(yes, I did invert part of that explanation the first time I posted it)

I've got no objections to someone renaming themself - as far as I'm concerned, a person's name is whatever they tell me they'd like to be called - I just don't see why she felt a need to lie about it. On the other hand, when I was her (actual) age I was so full of shit it's a wonder I didn't explode, so I can sort of empathise with what she's done.

It's all very confusing :)

That's pretty fucking insane. I don't think it makes it peculiar that you care about it, though - emotions never have anything to do with reality or logic or any of that anyway.
*hugs*

Seconded. Don't worry about why you feel the way you do anywhere near as much as about getting round to feeling better.

Anytime you need to talk to someone you really don't know very well at all, you have a number of ways to contact me. *hugs*.

Wow, I am guessing you have read hitch hikers guide to the galaxy (yes, I know that quote is the smallest part of the whole entry, but I coudln't ignore it. Hard to find a hitchhikers fan nowadays). Who doesn't love the random probability drive =p
