The petition's been floating around for at least a couple of months. I remember looking at it back then and very few signatories were taking it at all seriously. I still think it's a joke - and they have my respect for being so straightfaced about it.

Not sure about the site, but the petition and the organization have been around for a while. But even so as all 3 parts were filmed before the first screened...

Of course that was only filiming, which makes a lot of sense rather than trying ot get all the actors back together repeatedly. I suspect post production, CGI etc. may have at least partly prevented them from being released that close together.
