This week I will be mostly going 'ooh, shiny' :)

Yesterday, Parcel Farce were good enough to deposit these with my neighbours, who handed them over in the evening.

ballet shoes

No, they're not for me. Well, not for me to wear anyway... they may well be for my entertainment nonetheless :)

Today, I arrived at work to find that this had got here before me:

Nokia 6630

I've just finished getting my new SIM to take over from the old one, so I'm now completely lacking in any phone numbers, stored text messages, etc etc. They're safely located on the phone memory of my old phone though, so I should be able to manually transfer all the numbers this evening. Shame I don't have any of the required tech to get data off of my 6310i onto my PC - that would probably simplify matters considerably.

Shiny! Impossibly to walk in, of course, but shiny!

Definitely shoes intended for horizontal use :)

Actually the girl they're for can walk in them, she did a lot of ballet when she was a kid... but it's about as far from practical as it's possible to get :)

Oh gods, I want both of those! The shiny! My brother has the 6630, and it looks so much more spiffy than my 6600. And I can't even begin to go into why the shoes are so fantastic. Want.

I've just just been trying to find a less objectionable ringtone on the phone... it took quite a search. Polyphonic ringtones don't seem to bring out the restrained good taste in phone companies :)

The menus feel a bit slow to me, to be honest... things take a while to open. I've not used a 6600 so I don't know how much that is true for them as well. This thing is supposed to be quite powerful for a smartphone, but as ever that just means they've made it look prettier and have more features to suck up the extra power.

The shoes are wonderfully extreme - you have to respect that kind of thing. It's like drag racing - even if you're not interested, there's something impressive about the sheer folly of it :)

I must agree, I had difficulty finding ring tones that were a) decent and b) audible from inside my bag. Mostly I've gone for 'decent' and figured I can call people back. and yes, it is a bit slow - particularly when you first turn it on, although I'm not sure if that's because I have to enter my PIN - [livejournal.com profile] aegidian's seems to boot faster than mine and the only difference is that his doesn't ask for the PIN...

But generally, I love my phone. It has decent amounts of space (I've a few hundred pics on the memory card and have yet to run out of space, and I'm keeping all texts as per usual, not to mention a few hundred contacts with multiple details), the screen's a good size and the buttons as well, and I like the function keys. It's my first camera phone and I've been really enjoying using that feature, the bluetooth works a million times better than my old 6310, and the calendar and alarm functions which I use quite a lot are still Good Stuff. Plus, I like the new version of Snake and the jigsaw puzzles :)

Um. I know I don't have to sell it to you, but I do really like my phone!

As for the shoes - yes. Wonderfully extreme. I've never got around to finding out what drag racing actually is though, so I coulnd't comment. All I can say is - want those shoes *grins*

*sits and festers with jealousy* damn you :(

How much were the shoes, out of interest? On second thoughts, I'm guessing you nabbed yourself a pair whilst that sale was on, so I'm not sure I want to know..

They're £100 now - plus delivery which I think was £5.

I have had quite a bit of discussion with people about ballet boots/shoes and evidently not everyone can wear them, it has something to do with the bone structure or flexibility of the foot or something.

A no no for me as high heels leave me crippled for days.

That said I think they look great on :)

They both have Bluetooth, so you ought to be able to transfer the phonebook entries between them using that.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. The 6310i doesn't actually seem all that interested in talking to anything Bluetooth except for headset stuff... I'm told by a Bluetooth fan in my office that it has a non-standard Bluetooth setup and the only way to get it talking to a PC is with a Nokia dongle and Nokia software.

I can get the new one to see the old one, then it asks me for a passcode... which I don't recall setting, and can't figure out the default for :) I suppose I should try googling that actually...

Ugh, I am of course a moron. The passcode is the 'shared secret', you type in any old number but do it on both devices.

Live and learn. It appears to be working now :) Still one number at a time, but better than nothing.
