Since I moved into this flat, I've become accustomed to the postman turning up at around 11:30am. This means that I don't get my mail until I get home from work (which is usually for the best, as I'm emotionally better equipped to deal with threatening letters from creditors at that time of day), and if I ever get anything delivered that needs signing for or won't fit through the letterbox, then I'll have to find out where the local depot is.

Except for this morning, when he knocked on the door at precisely 8am. Bastard.

This is the first weekend I have ever gone to bed in London with absolutely no reason to wake up at any particular hour whatsoever. I was hoping for a mid-afternoon awakening, given how tired I've been all the time lately. Oh well.

In his defence, he brought me SHINY THINGS! :) From my previously mentioned play.com order, I now have the Star Wars trilogy boxset, the X-Men 1 & 2 boxset, Wargames, Dark City, Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. I guess it's a sofa weekend then. I think I fancy some KFC as well... I've already had pizza three times in the last 10 days :)

Oh, I do have to mooch into town at some point and find myself the 4th and 7th Transmetropolitan collections, which seem to be missing from the big stack that I acquired last time I was near the comic shop and bought one of everything they had on the shelf for that series. I usually get stuff from the place near Leicester Square, 'the comic showcase' I think it's called - does anyone have any other recommendations? For shops I mean. Although recommendations for comics to check out also gratefully received.

Oops, that reminds me... I checked my bank balance last night and I'm £40 over my £2000 agreed overdraft. And it's another ten days until payday. Time to start living off of credit cards again I guess.

*shudder*

FFS, why not just eat the packaging the DVDs came in?

Forbidden Planet has a pretty good comics selection, now that they've expanded.

There was also a nifty comic shop called Gosh across from the British Museum. Be careful there, though, because I think a lot of their trade paperbacks are in the basement, and the only way down there is the Spiral Starcase of Doom(tm). Despite the stairs, though, the selection was very good.

The "Preacher" series by WE is also worth reading, if only for the down-on-his-luck Irish Vampire and associated necessary sordid behaviour in order to pay his way ;o)

Think it is still a work in progress, unlike Transmet :o(

I've read Preacher - in fact, it was the primary comic I cited in the list of 'things I like', which led to the comic shop pointing me at Transmet as the 'next thing I might like' :)

Preacher is a closed story cycle too, as far as I'm aware.

Yes, 'tis true.

W.E. seems to be engaged in a technology wankfest right now, which is interesting (from tech POV), but not too stimulating to read:

Let's hope he comes up with a new storyline soon...
