I seem to have stopped posting on LJ for a while. Life sort of got so boring for a couple of weeks that I had nothing to say, and by the time things started happening again, I'd got out of the habit. I've also not been reading my friends page for a while - if anything earth-shattering has skipped my attention in the last few weeks, feel free to mention it in comments or by email and I'll go look.

As for what I've been up to lately... I've been playing Kings of Chaos, I'm ranked #5 in the whole world, whoopee. I had two job interviews last week, one at Fotango (which I mentioned here a while ago) which I didn't get, and one at state51 which I haven't heard back from yet, but would really really like. More than the Fotango one actually, having been to both places... state51 looked like a great place to work and is doing some fun and interesting stuff. I hope they get back to me with good news *crosses things*

I also had a phone interview today for a job working for Red Hat, but it's as a Technical Trainer, and I'm not really sure that's a career change I want to make. Nor is Guildford high on my list of places to move. If it wasn't such a well-known Linux company I wouldn't even be contemplating it, so I guess I'm probably going to say 'no' to them before that process moves much further. Whilst I'm not hugely enjoying being unemployed, I don't think taking the wrong job is going to help much in the medium to long term.

I've once again reached the end of all my available sources of credit, and have a huge stack of overdue unpaid credit card bills and missed loan payments. Well, tough shit, really. I'll pay them when I have some money, as per usual, along with the rampant fines and interest they apply in the meantime. I could probably pay one or two of them off with the amount I've paid in fines in the last few years - mostly just through disorganisation, and depression-fuelled apathy.

I spoke to my lawyer yesterday re: my insurance claim, nothing much has happened since the last (first) offer was turned down. The first medical report has just come back and all it really says is "is seriously injured, needs further assessment before anything can be said, come back in 18 months", so that's not really going to progress matters much. My lawyers are going to ask for another interim payment, but I suspect I might be pushing up against the limits of the other party's friendliness at this stage.

My next hospital apppointment is in three weeks, at which time if all has gone very well, I might be allowed to start trying to walk again. Here's hoping.

Sorry to hear that things are moderately crappy for you.

I wish you the best of luck on the job front!

Good luck with the interviews!

Am I right in thinking your skillset is webby stuff and Perl? I just tapped in 'perl' and 'london' to reed.co.uk and quite a bit of stuff came up. May be worth a peek; I don't know enough about what you do to be much more help! At any rate it might help you get in with a contracting firm in London, if that's where you want to be. There's also a couple of webby things that want Perl in Milton Keynes, I see.

There are four ways to make your army grow faster:

1) Click your own recruit link each day, and email it or send it by IM to all your friends and ask them to click it each day too. A good commander will click your link each day too, as it benefits them as well as yourself.

2) Join an alliance with a link-clicking agreement (most alliances have this). Some alliances will also click their members officers, so joining a strong commander can help in this way as well.

3) Use #koclinks on IRC to trade links with other players.

4) Get some good active officers - for every two clicks an officer gets, their commander gains one soldier too (this is how I have gained most of my men - look at the size of my officers' armies).

If you are interested in joining a good alliance, please consider The Nameless, an alliance which I run. You can see our website here: http://www.WeAreNameless.net

Good luck in the game!

Denny
