denny: (This way up)

I just spent a semi-instructive half-hour prodding the new style system to see how hard it is to make your own custom styles. Semi-instructive because although I managed to help [livejournal.com profile] tacohell find and edit the style she wants to base her new style on (Generator), I can't find the source code for the one I want to base my new style on (Component). It looks to me as if whoever created the Component (and Boxer) style has chosen not to share the code for them, even though they're in the Public Layers area - which is recommended as a good source for reference materials in the S2 docs. This seems a bit odd to me...

Update: further investigation shows that these two styles are only available to paid users, and I'm guessing this is the reason that the source is being kept unavailable - to prevent free accounts from copying the whole thing across into a private style and using it. This is kind of sucky... I think I'm going to have to switch to a different style and then do some radical editing to get the results I want, instead of just tweaking this style.
