Oooh, pretty-swirly-burny-things!
Apr. 21st, 2003 06:45 pmOn a more cheerful note, check out this outrageously cool fire poi picture that I found from a link
ali_anarres posted in someone else's journal.
Update: Oh. My. God.
(apparently metal cages stuffed with wire wool and ignited make interesting fire poi... good lord)

Date: 2003-04-21 01:54 pm (UTC)You are doing this safely, right? Assistant with fire extinguisher or suitable alternative, etc?? I don't know you all that well yet, it'd be a shame if you caught fire before we met again...

Date: 2003-04-21 02:06 pm (UTC)Yes. I'm doing this safely. Very firmly getting it sorted before I start any of the interesting stuff. Like, um...lighting it. I'm less of a nutter than I seem.
Probably. *Grin*
Same goes for the firebreathing...*Grrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiin*

Date: 2003-04-21 02:30 pm (UTC)I think I will stick with glow-poi, if I can find some... it seems a lot simpler, even if the trails aren't quite as pretty and the audience is less impressed :)

Date: 2003-04-21 04:41 pm (UTC)I know nothing about poi, but you'd have to be trying reasonably hard to set yourself on fire while firebreathing. Probably involving spilling a sizeable amount of paraffin (?) on yourself, then holding a flame to it.

Date: 2003-04-21 06:51 pm (UTC)NOT water. Foam not recommended because it can block up your respiratory system. CO2 isn't good, the force with which it comes out can damage e.g. eyes, and is likely to spread the fuel about.
