Was that a week, or a weak?
Nov. 8th, 2002 11:16 pmOkay, to hit the highlights and lowlights of this week:
Last weekend: I was laid up in bed all weekend (Friday midnight until Sunday early evening) with a cold so severe I was hallucinating at one point on Saturday afternoon, curled up in bed both sweatingly hot and shivering with cold at one and the same time.
- Didn't enjoy this, on the whole.
Monday/Tuesday:
duranorak visited. We stayed up all night drinking caffeine and talking, and when I finally conceded defeat (hey, she's younger than me!) and went to bed at dawn to get some sleep, the neighbours waited a whole two hours before they started drilling through the common wall between our houses. So I got up again, and subjected
duranorak to the infamous concrete cows. Sorry ;)
- Enjoyed this a LOT. Yay for friends!
Wednesday: Went to work. Nuff said.
- Enjoy the bit where they pay me each month, so, I'll persevere.
Thursday/Friday: Went to Norfolk with my sister, to pick up my mum and bring her back to Leighton Buzzard for my niece's 1st birthday party. The drive down was okay, but then my mum announced we had to get up at 7am to take my kid brother to the hospital (he really hurt his eye badly in a pushbike accident recently). Okay, I would have survived this, although missing sleep is FAR from my favourite thing. But then my car blew up on the A14 on the way home. Got to spend 2+ hours stuck on the side of the road with my family slowly reaching the boil behind me... fun.
- Didn't enjoy the car bits At All. Or the early start. Nice to see mum though.
Got the car home and had a look at it. On the bright side it turns out it isn't completely or expensively screwed - it just doesn't like being stuck in traffic jams, something it's never experienced before as the road system in MK actually works fairly well. It does need various things doing though, including a new battery. Could be worse.
Spent the rest of this evening catching up on the few hundred emails I missed by being out of 'net range for more than 24 hours. My mail has really slowed down a lot lately, which is probably a good thing... I used to get 300-400 mails a day after filtering spam, now it's more like half that. Don't know if this means the possibility of me getting a life is encroaching, or if it means even my online friends don't like me any more :)
