A campaigning great grandmother has made history by returning her MBE medal to Tony Blair - in protest about the war in Iraq.Incredible 82-year-old Liz Nunn was awarded the MBE four years ago for her services to needy children in India, for whom she has raised tens of thousands of pounds over the years.
But last week she took the coveted medal to the post office and sent it registered post to Prince Charles, with a polite letter explaining why she could no longer accept it.
"Sadly I feel I must return my MBE as I am ashamed and degraded by our invasion of Iraq. War is no answer to state problems, in my humble opinion," she wrote.
"My Islamic friends and those who work with the street children in hte world feel the invasion is immoral... having experienced six years in London during the Second World War, my heart aches for hte innocent civilians being bombed in their own homes" added Liz, who lives on Conniburrow.
Now she has received a letter back from Prince Charles saying how sorry he is that Liz can no longer accept the medal.
The Prince has promised to return it to Tony Blair as, he says, it is technically the property of the prime minister.
"I just do not want it any more in view of the war. I will never agree with it," said Liz.
