Letter to my MP
Mar. 19th, 2010 02:29 pmDear Ms Hillier,
I'm writing to ask that you and your colleagues push for a full and rigorous debate of the Digital Economy Bill before it is passed into law.
This bill is complex, and has been quite heavily amended in the Lords, both for better and worse. It needs to be well scrutinised before it is voted on - please don't let your Government rush it through in wash-up.
I run a digital business myself, a small web development company which is based in your constituency. I am part of the digital economy which this bill should be helping to build and protect, and instead it is going to disadvantage me and my business, as well as many other people.
Significant portions of this bill were drafted by the BPI. They are not part of the digital economy - in fact they are resistant to it and have been demonstrably so for years. Their interests are not common with my interests, nor with my clients' interests, nor with the interests of most of your constituents. Please, please give this bill a full debate.
Yours sincerely,
Denny de la Haye
