"It's not for me, it's for a mate", as the saying goes. Anyway, does anyone know any good resources for finding relationship counselling that won't refuse to believe you when you say "Honestly, his/her other relationships aren't the problem" ?

I guess it would all depend on the counseller you got, but we just went to Relate, and the councellor worked very responsibly within 'yes, we do kiss other people, yes, I do stay the night with other people I love, no, we don't think that's the problem'. I mean, he touched on talking about it to see if it was a problem, but he did that with everything, from where we lived to religion etc etc, and he seemed quite happy to accept that it wasn't and move on. I did end up feeling slightly defensive that we weren't his 'usual' clients though.

I get the impression that Relate is a bit like a multi-GP surgery... you can have very good and very bad experiences with different doctors working under the same banner.

I guess waiting a couple of years until I'm qualified isn't an option?

I don't think you know the people involved, so you wouldn't be disqualified on those grounds :) but yes, that might be a bit long to wait. I'll bear it in mind for the future though ;)

If you have any insider knowledge on how to track down or identify more 'open minded' counsellors then that'd be handy.

I need one myself as a requirement of my training, preferably someone who won't think hearing voices/talking to angels/deamons/invoking long forgotten deities aren't Section-able offenses.

If I figure out where to find a slightly more latitudinarian shrink I'll let you know.

Try pinktherapy.co.uk - lgbt rather than specifically poly friendly, but is a good start.
