This evening a group of people will be heading into St. James' Park for a picnic then fire spinning. Plan is for the first of us to get there 5.30/6 to meet those finishing work around that time for a picnic. Then others to arrive 8ish for fire spinning. [livejournal.com profile] florence90 and [livejournal.com profile] flannelcat will find a good space when they arrive then if you want to join us you can call/text them (or anyone else that you know is going) so you can find us. Bring food/drink if required, and fire toys if you have them.

Feel free to post this in your own journal and bring people with you - the more the merrier. You don't have to spin fire to join us. :)

You will be moved on by the park keepers for spinning fire in a Royal Park, particularly one next door to Buck House...

Hrm, I was wondering about that myself when I saw which park they'd picked. Any suggestions for a more suitable spot?

no fair! arrange the next on for a day other than Wednesday!

on a different note, what's the legality of using fire is St James's? Most parks don't allow "naked flames"

I didn't organise it, but if I ever do organise one I'll bear that in mind :)

I have no idea. I know Clapham Common is okay to spin on, I've never tried it anywhere else in London. I'm not too keen on lighting up right next to Buckingham Palace personally, that's bound to get people in uniforms excited.

Commans are comman land, so no real restrictions. Parks have loads of silly little bi-laws, such as no naked flames (so people don't have bbqs and bonfires is the offical reason, guess so that the masses don't burn the park down or injure small children... or similar rubbish)

Did you see that? He used the words 'denny' and 'organise' in the same sentence. Brilliant :)

Awww damn... and I only got back from working in London an hour and a half ago, then read this.

However I'm shattered - worked a full day today (up 5:30, returned 18:00), and 16 hours yesterday. My bed is beckoning to me (once I make it - argh!), so I probably would have been nodding off anyway...

Fire-spinning was very pleasant. We got told off for lighting fires in a Royal Park, but only as we were packing up to leave, so that wasn't much of a hardship.

No storm here, not that I noticed anyway. We got a very light rain for a minute or two while we were in the park, but it was practically evaporating before it hit the floor...
