I rang the 'customer retention' department and told the guy about the problem as I saw it, with me not being offered this nice deal that new customers would get. He immediately said that they would be happy to match any deal offered by Orange Retail, but that the deal I was discussing wasn't available with that handset. There was then a brief conversation which boiled down to "Oh yes it is" "Oh no it isn't" "Oh yes it is", etc. Eventually he put me on hold and went to talk to his supervisor.
His supervisor must have told him I was right and not to annoy me any more, because he came back and said they'd be happy to offer me that deal, oh, and by the way, I could have the handset free of charge as well. Which is quite a reduction from £119, so I thought it best to say 'thankyou' at that point.
It should be delivered to my workplace on Wednesday or Thursday. Nice :)
