Just when you thought I was going to be an unpaid street performer for the rest of my life, someone goes and employs me.

Now I need to find somewhere to live in or near SW19 (South Wimbledon) - anyone who can point me at useful resources for that, please do. Any suggestions of nice places to live that are a bit closer to the centre of things but still in easy morning commute distance of SW19 would be good too - I'm not sure about living that far South...

Anyway... brace yourself London - Denny inbound :)

Well you know you've got space here but it is, of course, diametrically opposite.

But congrats!

Yeah, I'm not actually sure whether I'd save any time at all by starting from East London instead of Milton Keynes...

Congratulations. :-) Was good to see you at Compulsion, by the way, even if I was slightly out of it (flying+clubbing does not mix). Hope to see you next time I'm in London.

You did look a little spaced out - although I felt like I probably looked similar for a good while near the start of the night. The chips perked me up quite a bit though :)

While its proximity to Oddballs is a thing of splendidness, it is otherwise the opposite end of London from that which I need. I would have much preferred to live in North London, but the job is deep on the South and therefore, so must I be. Because I'm definitely not doing an hour plus tube journey every morning :)

Thought not, just the person above you on my friends list was asking if anybody knows of somebody looking for a place to live. Will keep eyes open. If I wake up one day and find I suddenly have a great big house in Kew along with six cats and the abilty to fly, I'll rent you a wing of it dead cheap.

Cheers! I snagged a new job back in march and I couldn't be happier. Even leaves me decent time for Koc during the day. :-) Good luck with all the newness and moving.

Could you hire people to move your stuff and then get reimbursed or have it paid for as medical expenses since you probably shouldn't be moving heavy things? Can a doctor prescribe that someone else to do your manual labor for you? I know in the US, if you know the proper people, it can be done. We're lazy like that. :-D

Welcome to the area!

Actually, a friend of mine is buying a flat in Clapham Junction and will be looking for a flatmate to rent one of the rooms to. Clapham Junction is 5-10 minutes from Wimbledon station by train. She's lovely, though I don't know how much you'd have in common. (Er, not that you aren't lovely, just that she's vanilla and monogamous and teetotal and vegetarian...)

Alternatively, I can pass on local papers to you for flatmate-hunting services, if useful? I can certainly give advice on which areas are good. Spikeylady used to live in S Wimbledon so she might also have advice.

Tooting might be good - it's just up from S Wimbledon on the Northern Line, affordable and has character (and great Indian restaurants).

Well, I'm pretty much teetotal. The rest doesn't sound like a perfect match though :)

I was originally thinking of sharing, but after some recent moments of wibbliness I've started to think that perhaps I still need my own space at this point, so I'm pretty sure I'll be looking for a 1 bedroom or studio flat for now.

Ah, then ciphergoth is the person to speak to - he had a perfectly nice studio flat in Tooting until very recently.

It looks as though there are plenty of studio flats for about £600 a month around here, so I imagine you won't have too much trouble.

Are there any areas you'd advise I look at / steer well clear of? I'm probably going to be renting a one-bedroom or studio flat for a while, but I'm not really sure whether to get one as close as possible to work, or whether to try and get something a little bit closer to the centre of London.

Don't really know the area well enough. I'd advise getting somewhere as close to a Northern Line tube station as you can (presumably South Wimbledon) - then you can be in the capital in half an hour if you need to...

Great news, and looking forward to having you around very much!

Fantastic news! Am househunting myself atm, having also been *cough* sucked into the capital, and these two sites are particularly good (many others are bizarrely shite):

http://www.intolondon.com/

I'll be in SW2 - it'd be good to see you again.
