Schemes to avoid delivery time pain

You know how delivery companies always try to bring stuff round in the day, when any normal person is at work? I've read about two schemes to try to get around that lately:

Both seem like good ideas on the surface at least. It'd be particularly nice to see pubs going back to a more community-focused role instead of just supplying lager louts with their fuel.
