Yay, finished wading through my email and old lj entries. So, Oxford...

florence90, and it was good to see her again. Sadly the Gloucester Arms closed their kitchen for the one day that I was seeking food in Oxford and was meeting said girl in said pub. Having eaten there before, I was quite upset about this. I was even more upset when I eventually had to settle for a dodgy burger from the kebab shop around the corner. I hereby require Oxford to schedule such closures to avoid my next visit, thankyou.

nullstr, and it was good to meet him. I suspect I may have to go and bother him again at some point, he seems quite good fun :)
* Contains Intrusion, which was a Good Thing™ in several respects. The music was excellent, for my tastes - a steady mixture of bleepy music that you could actually dance to (i.e. not the shit they play upstairs at Slimelight) and guitar music you could actually headbang too. The only things missing were 80s and/or cheese, probably because from what I hear
robinbloke had the entire genre stashed in his pocket on Tuesday night this week :)
Intrusion beats The Calling for being stocked with a very large number of attractive females. It doesn't quite match up on attractive males though. Advocates of either town may make what they wish of this observation... I think I'll take it as a good reason to commute in both directions every now and then, once I'm able.
In the general category of attractive females, I should specifically mention the pair I arrived at Intrusion with -
hilarityallen, in a skirt that almost wasn't, and
lzz, in a skirt that really wasn't. If you were selling that, I think you'd be legally obliged to label it as some kind of 'waist accessory'. Oh, and "nice shoes...", which she borrowed from
gothslut - a girl who knows her nice shoes :)
In other Intrusion/Calling comparisons, it was nice to go to a small goth club at a half decent venue again. The Cellar Bar where Intrusion runs is very similar in feel to The Q Club, with good spaces with comfortable seating, as well as a reasonable sized dancefloor with good lighting and sound system. It's a shame the Q closed and The Calling is now at the Kambar, which offers roughly none of these things.
Oh, a fairly drunk (birthday boy)
deeteeuk offered to guest-list me for Intrusion once I can dance again, so I can "shake my thang"... so I'll be back then, if not before :)
Still suffering from inconvenient sleep patterns, I got to sleep sometime after 4am last night and got woken at 9am to catch a coach home. I slept fairly badly on Tuesday night as well. I am now tired. Maybe this means I'll get to sleep at a normal-ish hour tonight, but it hasn't worked that way in the past.
I stayed in Oxford a day longer than originally planned, due to it being far more interesting than my bedroom (well, alone anyway), and I'm not particularly thrilled to arrive back here. Especially as I've just realised I've got bugger all in the house to eat or drink. Time to ring my dad and find out when he wants to take me shopping...
