Not sure if everyone else will have already seen this - sorry if it's all over TV, I wouldn't know as I don't watch it. I thought it was good anyway.

She was really pretty to start with.

Yeah. As they say, no wonder our perception of beauty is well and truly screwed. Personally, I would never have been able to tell that person was 'shopped as much as it is. Really scary.

This is the second one -

I think the first one is interesting and scary, but the second one really drives the point home and is an awesome feat of editing.

Yeah, the second is remarkably effective..

But I like this one more:

It's the parody.

I got sent both links together... I didn't think the parody was particularly funny personally.

I think the first one makes the point better, to me. Of course, I'm not really their main target group :)

Her skin was a bit fucked (not really bad, just a bit rough looking) but yeah, nothing else wrong with her. I thought she looked best about halfway through the make-up process, before they started getting silly with her hair.

I found the edited video in the parody more astonishing.

I already knew that photos get edited how it is done and what the results are and i did it myself.

But the video editing is different i have never seen a lot of video editing tutorials nor done a lot of video editing so the effects in the second video have been quite astonishing for me (especially because i assume that the parody had a small budget).

And the question at the end of the second video: do we really want to see "real people" in advertises?
is also more challanging then the moralistic aspect that the first video tried to have as its main theme by condemning "our distorted view of beauty" but it still is what it is an ad for cosmetics.

the clip that supposedly exposes dove (it's a link from the second one i think) is pretty interesting.
personally i rather like the dove films, though they just made me cry a little (yeah, guessing i'm hormonal), but i don't think i'd buy anything from dove anyway. i just don't like the stuff. meh.
