Had an excellent weekend - saw loads of people who I haven't seen for far too long. Ignoring for the moment the fact that my car is a highly entertaining toy, it's also wonderful to have any means of transport that lets me move around the country visiting my friends. I think I did something like 600 miles this weekend, possibly more :)

People/places/events on my route included but were not limited to:
* [livejournal.com profile] ravenselene's boat ('tis very nice to chill out on, but a bit small for living on imho)

* Shades Nightclub in Leighton Buzzard. Don't even ask. I blame it all on [livejournal.com profile] jazzydan.

* [livejournal.com profile] bluecassandra's birthday gathering. Some nice people, but I didn't get to spend much time there on account of the two hour tour of the South Circular that I took on the way there. Note to self: buy a navi system for the car.

* [livejournal.com profile] sebastian_lux's party at [livejournal.com profile] azekeil's house. There were people, and fire, and more people, and a mass goating, and indeed people. Lots of things happened here, at least one of which was completely unexpected but extremely nice. And I don't mean the goating, fun though that was :) Oh yes, I'm now a Fire Templar of The Reformed Order of the Holy Goat. Also during the course of this evening, I managed to spell out NOOOOO with fire-poi while running away from [livejournal.com profile] flannelcat (who was attacking me with a fire-brand). Pretty neat trick, I wish I could figure out how I did it!

* Rotorstock - a big car show primarily for rotary-engined cars, which also attracts owners of all kinds of high-performance japanese cars. Drag strip, drift racing (So. Cool.), girls in seriously skimpy outfits molesting each other for the entertainment of passers-by (to a soundtrack provided by very powerful car stereos), and lots and lots of very shiny very fast things.

I popped through MK on the way home to see my sister and my ex-gf's daughter. Sister was out, but my ex's kid was happy to say 'nice car' to keep me happy :) before watching me embarrass myself at some SNES game (Starwing) that we both played for a while. It was nice to see her again - I'll probably pop down there more often now that I have transport again, I didn't get to spend any time chatting to her dad this time and he's a really nice bloke.

I appear to have sunburnt my lips while I was at Rotorstock. They look quite good, all red and glowy and slightly puffed up :-P but they feel shit. Ah well, it's not like anyone but me will be feeling them.

Hope everyone else had a good long weekend... mine was great. :)

I've booked a week off of work, starting this weekend. Anybody who would like to see me, especially on a weekday, now is your chance to mention it.

I'll be in Cambridge on both Saturdays, for Strawberry Fair and the Picnic Meme:
There will be a LJ picnic on Jesus Green, Cambridge, UK on Saturday the 11th of June, from around 2pm. We'll meet toward the town end of Jesus Green. Nobody is organising this, it'll just happen. Please turn up, be sensible, bring food and drink, meet new people, have fun.

Copy this invitation into your LJ. Let's make this a picnic to remember.

I'm staying at [livejournal.com profile] elise's place on the 4th, and I'm coming back to London for TG on the 11th. I have a physio appointment in London on the Wednesday evening.

Other than that little lot, and visiting various people, I plan to spend quite a bit of time doing absolutely nothing - and enjoying my blissfully relaxing debt-free status while I do it.

Suddenly feeling very very lonely again. Meh.

In the process of looking for the 'Roy Orbison in Cling-film site' for someone, I found out that one of the mirrors is now the top hit for a Google search for just the word 'clingfilm'. I can't even begin to imagine how much that must annoy companies that make the stuff :-D
