...I think this one is pretty safe:

I'd love to know the exact force required to break a piece of metal the thickness of this fork:

This one obviously didn't take quite as much of the impact, opting for a rather charming banana theme instead of the outright snap:

I go back to the hospital on the 16th, when they'll x-ray and see if the bones have got the right idea about joining up again (no idea what happens if they haven't!). After that appointment they should be able to give me slightly better time estimates as to when I'll start trying to walk again and when I'll be considered 'fixed', but it's likely to remain in the '6 months / 12+ months' area.
The skin graft, as you can see in that pic, is now mostly just a fairly funky and rather large scar. It's probably still a bit delicate, but I don't intend to poke it hard enough to find out :)

I know you shouldnt probably be thinking about it just yet.. but is the bike fixable? Or did that huge impact bend the frame as well as snapping the fork!

It's not obvious in the photos but there is engine damage that would probably write the bike off even if the frame were straight, which is uncertain.

Did I mention to you that I bought no less than 5 DM DVD collections a few months ago? Hours of giggling to be had...

Somehow I think it loses something in the reduction *sigh*. The scariest part is the darkness of the scar on his leg makes his leg look matchstick thin on that small picture...

Guess I'll have to do a fair bit of exercise when I finally do get the use of this leg back, to try and rebuild it to it's former not-quite-so-skinny glory...

And you complained about your fat when I saw you too.. biggest load of bollocks this side of christmas.
I expect you will have to exercise gently to get used to moving around as much as you used to, but that's only to be expected.

Naughty! He remained clothed (mostly) throughout my short visit.. sadly ;)

If there's anything I can do to help with that....

I wonder if anyone's ever written a physiotherapy book with helpful hints as to what positions help with rebuilding different muscle groups. If not, why not? :)
