I know Richard through work - he's a good guy. I've met a few police officers who are pro legalisation, actually.

Is he near retirement or something? He's speaking out very clearly against strongly declared policy on the part of both the current and (both potential) next governments...

He's always been very outspoken - he's said this on drugs before I think. Don't think he's very near retirement - late 40s/early 50s?

That would put him near retirement - according to Dad (who used to work closely with the police), they tend to get retired at 50-55.
