Random nostalgia moment

I've been thinking about this game a lot recently, due to [livejournal.com profile] duranorak and [livejournal.com profile] gothslut both playing fantasy adventure type games at me. I must get some emulator software on my PC at some point and see if I can get some of the first games I remember playing. I'd especially like to play Manic Miner again... I never liked Jet Set Willy anywhere near as much.

...Atari ST emulation stuff if you want it. Can also recommend "Jinxter" by magnetic scrolls, or any of the I-Fic stuff for "Frotz"

"Heroquest" for the Atari St is a current favourite of mine, if a little slow. Alternatively, get a Snes emulator and "Zelda III" which will BLOW. YOUR. MIND. Or the "Dizzy" series...

*Looks around, crawls back into his dark hole of emulation geekyness*

*Blush*

I'll be running emulation on top of Linux, not Windows... I don't know which you use (if either).

I never actually had an ST or an Amiga - I went from my ZX81, via my mum's bf's Spectrum 48, to an Acorn Electron, because I was more interested in coding than playing games. I guess it's the Speccy that I'd like to emulate, as I did game on that...

I also never owned any consoles. Oh, I lie, I had a Sega Master with Alex Kidd built into it, for a few months, but I never used it so I gave it to my kid brother. Zelda III is tempting though, yeah - I remember the reviews of that from way back when. Everyone was suitably impressed  :)

I'm running Windows. The roms, at least, I have, if you can find and emulator for Linux. (Is that how it works??))

Zelda is possibly the best series of games ever written. I'm afraid I've always been a Zeldabunny. *Grin*

Re emulation, if I can help get you set up, just say. Everybody should play the games they did when they were young.
