But the veggie society is waiting to find out what date this will come in as some unveggie have already been made - and there's no commitment for the other products which stopped being veggie. :(
How many veggies are so strict about stuff like rennet? Aren't most of the mars bars milk chocolate, so vegans (usually the strict ones) wouldn't eat them anyway? Or was I missing something? I don't think I've met a normal vegetarian that would look so far into the product, just vegans. Or are they actually vegan, without milk chocolate?
I think most vegetarians who follow the diet for ethical reasons, as opposed to just not liking the taste of meat, are usually quite serious about avoiding anything with a meat product in, like gelatine and rennet. Your experience may vary, of course.
Milk chocolate is certainly not vegan, but that's a separate issue.
All the vegetarians I've met care about rennet. It used to be an issue with pizza quite often (because of the cheese) but now almost all UK pizza companies use vegetarian cheese - because they'd lose business if they didn't.
Vegans are even more mad than vegetarians of course, but that's their problem :)
Yeah, I realize it's a meat byproduct... I guess most (all?) of my vegetarian friends wouldn't really consider it meat (but, they'll also wear leather, etc). I'm just not too familiar with vegetarians that are concerned about all of the ingredients, only the vegans I know. That was why I was commenting.
