Art exhibition launch party - 22nd August

Early warning for you all (those who didn't already know anyway):

[livejournal.com profile] libellum and [livejournal.com profile] cuteevilpixie are exhibiting some collaborative artworks at The Foundry from 21st August to 2nd September.

The Foundry is an entertaining mixture of pub, art gallery, and squat, located a few minutes walk from Old Street tube - it's well worth visiting. The launch party is in the evening on Wednesday 22nd August and will have a DJ providing some background music, as well as the opportunity to see the artists themselves wandering around in an over-excited state (it being their first exhibition).

A few examples of their work:
Polarity
Dryad's Dream
Personal Space

So yes, you're all invited to the launch party. Bring friends, buy beer to make the venue happy, buy paintings to make the starving artists ecstatic :)

Don't know if I'll make it, but it's in my diary!

I know it's a very long walk from the office ;) but it would be nice to see you there :)

I keep seeing you walking to and from the tube, while I'm walking to and from Denny's. I feel like I should say hi but I am uncertain that you would recognise me, and making you late for work in order to introduce myself seems slightly daft when I can introduce myself on Livejournal. So. Hello! *waves*

Cheers! Feel free to come up to me and say "hello, I'm libellum on LJ" next time you see me :-)

Really hoping to make it along. its been far too long since I did anything arty enough.

WOW - too far for me to come - but I am already in love with Polarity

[identity profile] dennyd.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
That's my favourite of their work so far, although not theirs - they both prefer the dryad.

The version linked by Denny isn't finished yet, although there haven't been any major changes yet. Just making it look slightly more like the ant nebula and slightly less like a sea-squid-spider thing (while retaining a suggestion of general sea-squidness). I haven't updated the photos yet because I'm sure it'll change again before we're done with it :)

Those are gorgeous. Will be there if I can. Wwhat kind of prices are they asking?

[identity profile] libellum.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
Probably between £50-£400 per artwork. The pieces linked in this entry would be in the middle-top area of that range (although it's worth mentioning that Polarity isn't finished yet - the only reason I put it on my journal was because I'm chronicling the collaboration process).

It might be worth giving the sizes of Polarity and Dryad's Dream? It's non-obvious from the images.

[identity profile] libellum.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
Not my fault you didn't include them in the entry :P

The two paintings listed here are both 40" x 32". Personal Space (which is also unfinished - possibly not the best examples to have given but Denny likes them!) is sort of rubgy-player sized.

Bizarrely, they failed to teach me the standard canvas sizes at any point during my Computing degree ;) This is what happens when one goes to an inferior non-Oxbridge university, I suppose.

Gosh, that IS strange. Standard canvas sizes were compulsory learning for my degree on ancient literature. That's JUST HOW SUPERIOR my university was.

("Standard canvas sizes." HAHAHAHAHHA omg hahahaheeeeeeeee *wipes eyes*)
