"Bye bye baby"

Just waved goodbye to the car as it disappeared on the back of a flatbed, bound for Newbury and an expert rebuild.

Investigation of my insurance situation yesterday revealed that I can't afford to change the ECU until I've resolved the liability for my bike accident, so for now it's just getting the rebuild, mild porting, and de-cat downpipe. Rest of exhaust, air filter, and ECU+mapping, will have to wait.

Last night on the owners club forums someone posted a really strong recommendation of the place it's going to, saying they did a fantastic job and in less time than quoted. I hope mine gets the same treatment.

From what I'm told, I won't get much of a power-jump with this work... it'll lie mostly dormant until the ECU goes on. That said, it's quite possible that the car wasn't running at full power from the day I bought it due to the seals being in the process of failing, so it may surprise me anyway.

Of course, first I've got to run it in. 1000 miles below 4000 revs, *yawn*. I didn't think it was even possible to drive this thing under 5000 ;)

You may find it starts a lot more easily and has better low-down power as well after it's been fixed :)

Yeah, hopefully. Although I'd sort of got the hang of starting it anyway, never had any problems after the first few days. And more low-down power would be nice of course... I'm sure I'd find something to do with it. Find some faster Porsches to drag race I guess, although I've already beaten two with the engine not working properly :)
