Can you imagine wanting to ride a fast motorbike? Or, how about a nice horse?

Horses are probably the best transport experience I've had while earth-bound, but they require ridiculously devoted maintenance, and the city (or even the suburbs) isn't really the place to enjoy riding one anyway.

Flying is even more fun, but it's damned expensive.

I think it's all the same root desire, to control something that looks nice and goes fast.

Obviously there are fashions in how you define 'looks nice', but generally if it looks like it should go fast then it probably looks nice to most people who are interested in that kind of thing...
