Saturday night I'm going here. Whee.

Weekend.

Started amazingly well.

Ended amazingly badly.

I'd appreciate seeing my friends this week, if anyone has time free in the evenings on Tuesday or Wednesday - I'm feeling pretty bad right now; need people, need hugs.

Right now, I really need sleep.

Hullo PA peoples. I have a guest joining me for PAing this month ([livejournal.com profile] sevenhelz). Is she okay to come along to the after party?

While we're on the subject, is there a pre-party, where, and what time is it starting? (bearing in mind that it's bank holiday, woo! Actually, how about a pre-picnic in the afternoon if it's sunny enough?!)

Oh yes, I still have a PA ticket to sell if anyone needs one - otherwise I'm going to have to pimp myself to the queue when I get there :)

Firstly, I booked two tickets for this month's PA when I only needed one - is there anybody who hasn't booked theirs yet who could buy one of them off of me please?

Secondly, I caved in to peer pressure from all directions and joined Facebook. I think I'm here if you want to do social networking type things with me. Be gentle.

Finally, meme:

http://www.devilducky.com/media/59809/ - Kermit the Frog covers Johnny Cash's version of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails.

A good weekend was had, starting with Chaos Engine in Cheltenham on Friday with [livejournal.com profile] elevenwords and a cast of thousands. There were a number of good bands, [livejournal.com profile] ninjagirl with a theremin (I want a photo of her playing with it captioned I HAS A THEREMIN - she looked very happy), Chaos Engine's probably-last-ever gig (which was great, although I think the last time I saw them was slightly better), and some terrible chav disco upstairs at the Two Pigs which we left fairly quickly.

Then there was Circus on the Circus near my place on Sunday with my brother and different cast of thousands, where there was juggling, hoola-hooping, fire-poi, fire-staff, and stuff. My brother appears to have (mostly) grown up into a raver (of the fields/barns and police raids variety rather than the shiny indoor arena variety) which meets with my hearty approval - it was good to spend a bit of time with him, and I reckon I'll go up to see him in the summer and go raving with him :)

In-between those two days of fun and enjoyment, I ended up in Slimelight on Saturday night with my brother and my upstairs neighbour (who is a Slimelight regular). Which was um... about as good as it ever is. I still can't figure out why people go there. My neighbour pointed out that if you go with a fun crowd and get suitably high then you can have a really good time there, but if you're with a fun crowd and you're suitably high you could have fun in a dark cupboard. In fact, probably more fun than you'd have at Slimelight. On the bright side, they appear to have massively upgraded their lighting, by which I mean that they've bought one decent light. Sadly it was installed in the downstairs room which was playing tedious shite (Industrial/Noise). Even more tedious than the tedious shite in the middle room (EBM), which at least played a couple of almost danceable tracks (my brother immediately spotted that cybergoths really should be at raves, where they'd be having far more fun than in the dingy shithole of a club that we were sitting in). The bands upstairs were really shite, just for variety (I have no idea what they were meant to be).

So, Monday then. Ugh.

TG have moved their dates back at the same time as PA, so they're still both on the same bloody weekend. Having spent days agonising other whether to go to PA or Transmission, and finally picking PA, now I have to decide whether to go to PA or TG. Blarg.

From [livejournal.com profile] katyha; apparently when I hug my friends (and even worse, my dad), it's a faux-american nervous tic.

There was plenty of hugging at Planet Angel on Friday*. Much fun was had by all, and the resident hippies are every bit as friendly as I was promised. They even let me do glow-poi on their 'no poi on the dancefloor' dancefloor, because it was "well pretty, man" and I had a crowd watching me at the time. [livejournal.com profile] bluecassandra and her 'little' sister were looking particularly fabulous.

[livejournal.com profile] libellum and myself left a few minutes before the end, had an extremely short drive back to mine (London with no traffic is remarkably pleasant to drive through), and got ourselves eight hours sleep in preparation for...

Torture Garden on Saturday night. Lots more fun than PA, so it must have been pretty damn good. I juggled shiny things a lot, replaced my glow-poi audience of the night before with a 'beating my girlfriend with various implements' crowd, on pretty much exactly the same spot (TG has the dungeon where PA has the main dancefloor), grinned while said girlfriend ran around the club waylaying any girls who made eye contact with her and snogging them (she did such a good job on one little oriental girl that said girl went off and came back with a friend!!), and got told by one very animated guy that we 'defined' TG for him. We may have been doing something rude on the dancefloor a few minutes before that**. :-D

Sunday we drove home, got another eight hours of solid sleep, then reluctantly eased back into consciousness. At this point I had the brilliant idea of going to the flower market around the corner from my place and buying [livejournal.com profile] libellum a few flowers. I bought the place out of roses, then bulked them up a bit with carnations - final count was 160 roses and 80 carnations I believe. It was quite funny watching her try to find enough containers to put them all in when we got back to her place. Especially when one container turned out to have a resident spider of impressive size - I reckon he was good for a handspan when he waved his legs around (which he was doing quite a lot, as [livejournal.com profile] libellum had put water in the pot before spotting him).

In between getting back to mine with the flowers and getting them to their new home, we also had a visit from [livejournal.com profile] romauld and [livejournal.com profile] elise, and the four of us wandered down Brick Lane and I ate some of the most unlikely things. Anyone familiar with my fussiness over food would be either proud of me, or deeply shocked :) I might pop down there again in future... I doubt it was very healthy, but at least it was different.

At [livejournal.com profile] libellum's place there were also residents [livejournal.com profile] strongtrousers and [livejournal.com profile] glamwhorebunni, and we all spent a few hours nattering before eventually I gave [livejournal.com profile] elise a lift to Kings Cross (although possibly the wrong bit, I realised this morning), and then crawled home into bed. And then read until gone midnight, which was foolish. (Getting up this morning)--

Waking up this morning was particularly unpleasant as my habitual check of my mobile for text messages revealed that my kid brother had been bottled at 2am last night and was currently in hospital being treated for serious head wounds. Apparently he's going to be okay - my mum rang me as I was walking to work to give me the details - but still, not the best news to start a Monday with.

So that was the weekend that was. I feel remarkably intact considering I just did two all-night clubs... maybe I'm not quite as old as I've been feeling lately :) Now to try to write some code, ugh.

* also some kissing of men (with facial hair), so I'm just losing manliness and Britishness points all over the place here.
** in related news, [livejournal.com profile] libellum has apparently learnt to breathe through her ears.
